Philipp,

| Would't it be better to use Spamassassin's daemon spamd instead of
| spamassassin?

amavisd-new does not call command-line spamassassin.

| Of course you wrote that spamassassin used by amavisd
| is as fast as spamd according to the preloading ...
| but I can't believe that ...

amavisd-new does almost exactly what spamd does.
And Postfix content-filter smtp service takes the place
of spamc, or better yet, avoids the need for it.
It is as if spamd would be able to speak SMTP instead
of the spamc/spamd protocol. Different protocol, same concept.

The differences are in user interface, configurations, etc,
but the concept is the same: have one daemon process use
Perl module Mail::SpamAssassin and avoid startup costs
for each mail.

Measure system mail throughput in both setups and compare.
Should be pretty close, possibly slightly in favour of amavisd-new.

  Mark
