Just to be clear: You realize that the new version is the left one?
You mentioned that it's "no longer jagged", which describes the old
version.

merriam-webster.com defines "jagged":

1 : having a sharply uneven edge or surface <jagged peaks>
2 : having a harsh, rough, or irregular quality <jagged rhythms>
