Bug ID: 345548
Summary: Could instructions be added to the wiki on how to
repair the embedded mysql tables?
Product: amarok
Version: 2.8-git
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Documentation
Assignee: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
Reporter: robert@capuchin.co.uk
CC: valorie.zimmerman@gmail.com
I'm using the embedded mysql database but don't have mysql installed, If I do a
(as suggested in the wiki) https://community.kde.org/Amarok/Community/MySQL
mysqlcheck -p --auto-repair --all-databases
I get
mysqlcheck: Got error: 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) when trying to connect
which isn't very useful. I did a lot of websearching trying to find the version
for an embedded database without success, and eventually looking at the
instructions for migrating to mysql tried
/usr/sbin/mysqld --defaults-file=`pwd`/my.cnf --default-storage-engine=MyISAM
--datadir=`pwd`/mysqle --socket=`pwd`/sock --skip-grant-tables &
and
mysql --socket=`pwd`/sock amarok
and then was able to execute the repair statements listed in a previous crash
of amarok.
If the above commands are correct it would be useful to have them with the more
general command.
Yes I know it's a wiki but wanted to pass this by someone first!
Reproducible: Always
