I was able to work through this problem. ffmpeg, via gnutls->trousers, was
linking to the system libcrypto. This meant that QT was not loading the correct
version of libcrypto and trying to use the different, system version of
libcrypto.

Rebuilding gnutls without trousers support got everything working.
