The Phonon backend-gstreamer uses the gstreamer 0.10.x library, if you have the
plugins for 1.x installed this can't work. I doubt this is an amarok bug s it
plays what taglib and the codecs provide. 

This is most likely it is a mismatch between plugins and backend, reassigning.
