Bug ID: 324041
Summary: ID3 tags are not always read from MP3 files,
apparently; instead, the album and title are guessed
from file name
Classification: Unclassified
Product: amarok
Version: unspecified
Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Metadata Editing and Reading
Assignee: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
Reporter: aaron.miller04@gmail.com
CC: 123kash@gmail.com
I am working with Amarok 2.6.0.
Sometimes when I download an album of MP3 songs through BitTorrent (not tested
for songs obtained from other sources), Amarok will not correctly detect the
album name, artist name, and title, even though the files have correct ID3v1
and ID3v2 tags. Instead, this information appears to be obtained from the file
name, which is less than ideal.
Thanks for all your time put into in making an otherwise excellent audio
player! :)
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure Amarok 2.6.0 to scan a particular directory
2. Download an album of MP3s with BitTorrent into that directory
3. Add the songs to the playlist and observe the metadata in Amarok
Actual Results:
Album name, artist name, and/or title are incorrect -- they are obtained from
parts of the file name. Sometimes, it says "Unknown Artist" even though the
artist is set in the ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
Expected Results:
The file name should never be consulted for this info when there are ID3 tags
present.
