I've seen this happen twice with the beta and I don't remember seeing this
problem before

What I've done at the amarok refusing to respond time is to edit track details
on two tracks and change the album artist (or maybe composer) when I click
'save and close' the dialog just sits there. The track which was playing while
I edited continues playing but at the end of the track I have to kill the
application as it is unresponsive.

Around this time I can see a message in .xsession-errors:
amarok(23336)/KSharedDataCache: Error detected in cache, re-generating 
amarok(23336)/KSharedDataCache: Unable to unmap shared memory segment
0xa35fb000 
though I see there's a couple other of these messages much earlier in the log
so it may be a red herring.

I can't at the moment replicate this but as its a locking up problem I thought
it worth reporting.
