I never doubted that :) I do bug triaging for the same reason.

While I understand your pain, I don't have a solution to this. I simply avoid
getting in the trap laid by Apple and don't buy their products. There are many
other sellers of media devices around, and I am sure you could find a better
device elsewhere and probably cheaper, with the advantage to also have support
for other media formats than the proprietary ones supported on an iPod. Did I
say I hate white headsets?
