I can confirm it with OpenSuse 11.3 and Amarok 2.3 GIT from KDE 4.6 >=
20100724.
I've tried removing all the plasmoids and adding them again, changing the
horizontal size for them. Nothing happens, the video plasmoid keeps its small
size.

May be it is related to the amarok-appletsrc file, where I've seen I have
(among other things):
[Containments][1][Applets][3]
geometry=0,191,200,38
immutability=1
plugin=videoclip
zvalue=0

[Containments][1][Applets][8]
geometry=0,840,200,300
immutability=1
plugin=videoclip
zvalue=0

I've tried removing the amarok-appletsrc file, without success. Even removing
all the amarok*rc config files, without sucess.
