...which is not to say that the scrolling isn't useful, quite the contrary,
it's pretty neat and looks awesome. That is, if you don't have it turned on all
the time (it's too quirky to be permanently on, which I believe is the reason
why you people only enable the scrolling when hovering the applet).

What I wanted to say with my last comment is that the scrolling should be a
last fallback for the cases where the title is *really* long, but shouldn't be
required for commonly sized track titles (and ideally also artists/albums).
