Yes. Now I remember I had this problem with with banshee, which uses HAL for
hot plugging:

At the time I was looking for a player which could handle directories for
albums and artists using MTP. Don't know if they fixed it because I didn't test
any newer version. Amarok worked because it didn't use hot plugging and
Rhythmbox because it didn't test the serial number.
