Are you guys interested in feedback from beta testers?
By releasing alpha versions promoted as beta, you risk killing the patience of
well-intended potential testers. And insisting that feedback is "useless" from
the bugtrackers point of view shows that you miss the point!

The message is that 1.9 is prematurely released as "beta". Of course one
expects bugs, crashes and loads of missing functionality from alpha software -
that is the name of the game - but beta releases should be pretty much usable,
inviting adventurous non-developer users to go ahead in order to provide
feedback.

"release early, release often" sounds like "bigger, better, faster", and we
know where THAT lead to... (or do you?)
