I will try out that change but I don't think it gets resolved. This is what happened:

I tried to scan my huge collection and everytime it stopped, I looked in  \
.kde4/share/apps/amarok/collection_scan.log and moved the folder in which the song/file was that couldn't \
be read. So it was a different one everytime. I got annyoney after about 20 folder so I stopped. 

Not the weird thing: Amaork succeeds scanning one of those folders! Furthermore it scanned the whole \
problematic folders at once without a problem! 

So it has something to do with the amount of files to be scanned. Somehow it screws up. I have not found \
