Summary: 'Download to Library' From MP3 Player Requires Files Be
                    Visible In Tree
           Product: amarok
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist kde org
        ReportedBy: markmsmith hotmail com

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

After connecting to my Dell Digital Jukebox (version 1) through the devices tab, the \
library of files on it shows up fine. However, if I right-click on one of the \
Artists and choose 'Download to collection' then it doesn't even pause to attempt to \
retrieve the files from the device and immediately brings up a dialog with the sample \
path of /home/marks/music///. The same happens if I drill down and try on the album. \
It's only if the the tree has been expanded sufficiently for the actual MP3s to be \
seen will the transfer be successful. This is a real pain when there are a large \
number of artists to transfer music from.

Step by step:
1) Turn on and connect Dell DJ via USB cable
2) Start Amarok version 1.4.7 (KDE 3.5.8) [Running on Kubuntu 7.10 with \
Compiz-Fusion] 3) Go to 'Settings' menu, then 'Configure Amarok...'
4) In the 'Media Devices' section, choose 'Add Device...'
5) Choose 'Creative Nomad Jukebox Media Device' in the plugin combobox, then give it \
a name and hit 'Ok' out of this and the configuration dialog. 6) Click on the \
'Devices' tab on the left 7) Choose the device in the combo box at the top, it should \
say 'NJB Media device' and click the 'Connect' button on the toolbar 8) The tree on \
the left is now populated with the files on the device. 9) Right-click on any of the \
artists' names at the top level and choose 'Download to collection' 10) With no \
pause, it immediately brings up a dialog with the sample path of \
'/home/marks/music///' and hitting 'OK' closes the dialog and nothing happens (no \
change to that folder) 11) Expand the artist node in the tree and repeat 9 and 10 \
with album name (being careful not to expand the album in the tree) - same result 12) \
Now expand the album in the tree to display the actual song files and try \
right-clicking on any one of the artist, album or file and choosing 'Download to \
collection' 13) With a pause to read in the files, the same dialog as before appears \
but now it has a path based on the last selected file (eg '/home/marks/music/Jonathan \
Coulton/Thing a Week III/Code Monkey.mp3') 14) Hitting 'Ok' creates all the \
appropriate directories and copies the files over, inserting them in to the \
collection. You can now collapse the tree and it will work as well, it seems that \
files just need to have been made visible at least once since the device was \
connected making me suspect some sort of lazy retrieval being to blame, with the tree \
expecting 'Download to collection' to do the work and 'Download to collection' \
expecting the tree to already have done the work and cached the list of children. \
