Summary: path longer than 257 letters can not be handled with
                    Mysql backend
           Product: amarok
           Version: 1.4.6
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist kde org
        ReportedBy: jobrn web de

Version: 1.4.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

(Backend: Mysql 5.0.38 from Ubuntu repo)

Ok here it goes:

Through some trial and error I found the reason for some very weird behavior of \
Amarok lately:

The collection apparently is not able to use path names longer than 275 letters \
(maybe less, I found out the actual length by counting the following path's letters \
and spaces)

/home/johannes/Audio/Musik (nach Genre)/Klassik/~ bis 1830 (Klassik)/Beethoven, \
Ludwig van (1770 - †1827)/Komplettedition/Symphonien/Nr. 9 (v01CD5) - Herbert von \
Karajan, die Berliner Philharmoniker/Symphony no. 9 in D minor op. 125 - Adagio molto \
e can.mp3

In order to make the collection be able to properly access the file I had to shorten \
it to this exact length.

The behaviour with a longer path is:
- Files can not be dragged from the collection (when dragged directly from the file \
                system no problem)
- Tag changes from outside amarok (easytag ect.) weren't recognized
- Tag changes inside amarok can not be executed

I know that those path names are ludicrously long and probably this is expected \
behavour (limit of path name length in Mysql database or something -?). If so - take \
it as a wish :-)

Thanks anyway, Johannes.
