I've tried to play some 8bit, 11kHz mono WAV file in Amarok and while
playing it it produces a lot of noise in addition to the real sound from the
file.

It fails with amarok-1.4.5 under Mandriva 2007.1 and with amarok-1.4.6 from Gentoo Linux

xine-ui and totem with xine backend work fine

I attach a file for testing
