Summary: Suggestion for a new way to read files over http using
                    httpfs
           Product: amarok
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist kde org
        ReportedBy: jh 333 org

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

httpfs is a new fuse filesystem that allows mounting a http resource in the local \
filesystem. See:

http://httpfs.sourceforge.net/

I've tried it, and mounting an mp3 file on a http server and then opening in Amarok \
works nicer than giving Amarok the URL because the user can fast forwards/rewind as \
if the file were on the local filesystem.

Might using httpfs be worth considering as a built-in option? The user would need \
fuse and httpfs installed, and would have to be a fuse-enabled user in order to take \
advantage of it. _______________________________________________
