Got that, builds fine.  But now its not contacting the server even if I 
manually start amandad.
xinetd isn't starting amandad, or at least I can't find it when amcheck is 
busy timing out.

And amcheck isn't finding amandad even if I start it by hand, and of course 
it times out in about 30 seconds too, so I have to be Jack the Nimble and 
quick.  I copied my F10/etc/xinetd.d/amanda file to the /etc/xinetd.d/amanda 
here, fixed its ownership, restarted xinetd, yadda yadda.

The log files are there, but silent except for the timeout message.

I'm running out of ideas on this end, and its silence isn't helping.  I need 
to make it downright lippy and obnoxiously verbose.
