Hi Homarjun:
This may sound obvious but have you tried with the options:
amrecover 'configname' -s servname -t servname -d devname

where 'configname' is the name of the configuration you are using for
backing up this client, and servname is the name of the server running
amanda?
With man amrecover, you can read all the options available to run
amrecover.
By the way, it is important to modify the file .amandahosts in the
server with the user root for this client, as amrecover will try to get
the information from the server as root.

It was not obvious to me yesterday, (also new to amanda), but I read
all the documentation and man pages and I finally made it work.
For your second question, the answer is yes, if you have amanda client
installed in server X and you had backed up some file systems from this
server in server Y.
Do not be rude to me if all this sounds trivial. I just installed
amanda this monday and I am telling you what I have learned so far about
amrecover.
Good luck to you. Sincerely Ana Maria
