Only when you are in maintainer mode, and this is a knonw problem, but
there's no portable workaround for it.

It is not Amanda that makes this requirement, it is one of its
maintainers that suggests that people post patches like this, so that
they can be downloaded from mailing-list archives. The program that
converts the archives to html does a pretty good job by making binary
attachments downloadable, but it converts text attachments to html and
embeds them in the message, which means you must either cut&paste it,
losing tabs and such, or save the html sources and edit < back to <
AFAIK, netscape, pine, gnus+tm and vm support mime attachments. All
of them are free, except netscape professional.
