I think I found the database corruption problem.  It only affects text
(non-DBM) databases.

The problem is that the label field is empty after the dump completes
until the tape is written.  But when the attempt is made to update the
record with the new label, read_txinfofile() considers the empty field
an error.

The patch allows the label field to be empty.  I've run it successfully
under some test conditions that showed the failure, but it has not been
in full production here yet.
