Subject:    [alsa-user] no sound after unmuting

i'm having some problems, and i'm sure i'm overlooking the obvious, but i have no \
experience with sound.  so some of these terms are foreign to me when they refer to \
the sound cards.  anyway.. i'm running a 2.2.14 kernel.  the latest alsa \
drivers,libs,utils.  i have an SB pci 64.  i'm using the ens1370 modules.  i \
./configure, make install drivers.  ./configure;make install  the libs.  i \
./configure ; make install the utils.  then i ran snddevices.  no problems.  so then \
i 'modprobe snd-card-ens1370'.  i then "amixer set Master100 unmute; amixer set PCM \
100 unmute.  still no errors.   so i ran mpg123 with an mp3, and i got a "can't open \
/dev/dsp".  i ran xmms and i got "can' open audio"  i DO have sound compiled into the \
kernel.  i ran 'lsmod' and this is what i got...
