For example, on a recent Redhat system I tried this. My LD_PRELOAD lib was
dynamically linked against libc.so.6 ... "ls" was dynamically linked
against libc.so.5 ... with LD_PRELOAD set to use my lib, "ls" segfaulted
every time.
And multithreading seems also to be a pain with LD_PRELOAD, though that
may as well be a specific problem with my programming. (realplayer dies
horribly, SDL apps crash somewhere inside thread manipulation functions,
though xmms and trplayer works)
