Hi, I recompiled my kernel on my laptop with just sound support, 2.2.16,
and have alsa drivers 0.5.8b:

did normal install of the drivers, and here's what I have first:

[marmot - root ~]: lsmod
Module Size Used by
pcnet_cs 10444 1
8390 6196 0 [pcnet_cs]
ds 6408 2 [pcnet_cs]
i82365 22944 2
pcmcia_core 45856 0 [pcnet_cs ds i82365]

I am unsure of what I want in my /etc/conf.modules. The OSS drivers would
need this:

alias char-major-14 cs4232
alias sound cs4232
alias midi opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
options cs4232 io=0x534 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=9

... but i guess i'll clear that out for now since i'm not using that
driver. (and i run depmod)

OK, now modprobe snd-card-cs4236 gives a lot of errors... (I can post
them if you want), I assume maybe because this is a laptop and really
isn't a sound CARD?

So I modprobe snd-cs4236
modprobe snd-mixer-oss
modprobe snd-pcm-oss
modprobe snd-seq-oss

and then i load up a mixer program and it says "no mixers found"...

What am I doing wrong?
