It stands for Wait. How much time the processor is waiting on Disk IO. In
otherwords the percentage of time it is just waiting for info to get too
it.

Hi,

Does anyone know what is the meaning of column 'wa' in vmstat output?

The cpu section contains us+sy+id+wa = 100%. According to a book I
have, it said wa is measurement of non-overlapping I/O. What exactly
does this mean? Does it mean the CPU is not doing any productive work
(wasted)?

Any reply is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
