Try "dmidecode". The serial-ish information will typically be towards
the top of your output. For example:

  Handle 0x0002, DMI type 1, 27 bytes
  System Information
          Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
          Product Name: HP Z400 Workstation
          Version:
          Serial Number: XXXX1708LB
          UUID: C1F21BA1-70B1-11E0-BBDA-C0BE206F78AC
          Wake-up Type: Power Switch
          SKU Number: VS933AV
          Family: 103C_53335X
