Great, thanks for the information Jerry. I'll take a look at what they have to \
offer.

Darryl,
I have been an admin on PICK/D3 systems and if Informix does their database like \
PICK/ D3 did in older versions, you could be looking at a virtual environment. Break \
the virtual disk space and you will have to completely rebuild the disk space in the \
same format as a core configuration file looked at. The following are my suggestions \
on how to proceed.

Look at the following site and join the International Informix Users Group. Give as \
many details as you prudently can without disclosing confidential information and my \
guess is that you will find the advice that you need.

http://www.iiug.org

 1. Gather all pertinent information (version level of Informix) and the version and \
point level of AIX and also the server and card microcode levels. 2. If there is a \
VAR somewhere in the chain consult them even if the company has to cough up a \
consulting fee. In addition IBM most likely will have a professional services person \
(costly but better than failure) to help you resolve your issues. Good Luck
Jerry

After taking a brief glance at the following Red Book and searching on the term \
virtual, there are numerous entries referring to Virtual Processors, Virtual tables \
and Virtual Memory.

Admins,

I know this may be a little off subject, but I just inherited some P55's in Mexico \
that run Informix. The disk layout makes me want to cry. IFXVG is spanned over \
internal SCSI (striped and mirrored) and external SAN in increments of 4.5GB LV 's on \
25 - 33GB LUNs. The total amount of storage is around 1 TB and the database is about \
100GB. Apparently Informix considers disk as RAW even in a VG with LV 's, which is \
what I have to work with. Do any of you guys run Informix, and if so, can you point \
me to some "Best Disk Layout Practices" information?

Thanks in advance,
