So much more Security with W2K. I'd use TechNet to find clues using the error below.

Patrick,

Well, it says a lot of stuff, we have about 8K users. But, when I try to
connect I get a Security allert:
pid
Domain: DOMAIN1
Primary Logon ID: (0x0,0x3B7)
User Name: HH
Client Domain: DOMAIN1
Client Login ID: (0x0,0x494EB0)
Priviledges: SelcreaseBasePriorityPriviledge

(Details altered to protect the innocent.)

Anyway, the same configuration of Encryption, AIX and AIX Connect users, but
different domains and authenticators going against a NT4 domain works as
expected.

Thanks for your responce and interest.

Harold

What does the DC Security Log say?

I don't authenticate to the W2K domain and it asks for a user name and
password. I have added the same name as AIX user and as AIX Connect user.
If I login with an AIX user name and have synced the password with AIX
Connect user, I usually connect.

Using the same AIX box and settings but changing to our old NT4 domain,
(with appropiate machine names and authenticating server) I connect directly
with the NT domain user authentication. I've tried many combinations of
encryption settings and Passthrough authentication. No luck.

If your a Win2K Administrator, sign onto an AIX box with the same W2K user
profile and password, and then you want to hit a folder on a W2K domain
controller, what error do you get?

Subject: AIX Connect Question

Anyone have experience using AIX Connect in a Windows 2000 NATIVE mode
domain? I have several AIX Connect servers using a Windows NT domain for
passthrough authentication, but I can't get the same AIX boxes, (4.3.3 ML9)
to use the W2K authentication. Have also tried current SAMBA with same
results. I'm now wondering if it's even possible with a W2K Native mode
domain?

I would appreciate any advice, please don't flame me because I used the "W"
word, I have to live in the real world.

TIA,
Harold
