cation-Certification-Logo-Program-1314184.htm

TOKYO – BEIJING- Penang-Malayisia- New HaMPSHIRE- USA - LUXEMBOURG,
September 06, 2010– The IPv6 Forum <http://www.ipv6forum.com/> Ready Logo
Program Committee releases a new program: the IPv6 Education Certification
Logo Program. This program defines and certifies courses, engineers and
trainers with Silver & Gold Logo levels and requires IPv6 implementation on
the web site of the education program.

A recent survey on IPv6 training and studies at universities and vendors has
demonstrated that IPv6 training and courses are way too embryonic to have
any critical impact. It is estimated that some 20 million engineers are
working on the current Internet worldwide at ISPs, corporate and all other
public and private organisations and they will need quality training on
IPv6. This is a gigantic task since it’s the first upgrade of the Internet
and most probably the last one for decades to come. The web site of the
study can be seen here: http://www.training4ipv6.eu/

The IPv6 Forum Education Logo Program’s prime objective is to encourage and
accelerate the education on IPv6 and promote thereby swifter adoption of
IPv6 in the education curriculum and programs of the universities, research
institutes, vendors and training specialists. This program is designed to
increase practical engineering expertise and hands-on knowledge to tackle
this large undertaking ahead of us extending thereby user confidence by
demonstrating that IPv6 will be deployed by qualified engineers.

”This program has been designed to prepare a wide range of players for the
implementation and use of IPv6. It is intended as an aid to capacity
building and a way to promote IPv6 awareness." states Dr. Vint Cerf,
Honorary Chair, IPv6 Forum.

”The IPv6 Forum wishes to recognize the IPv6 training experts for their
pioneering work to be used as a precursor model encouraging the education
sector in the universities and vendor training programs to adopt their
quality training courses to win time and train qualified engineers to deploy
IPv6 with expertise and quality." states Latif Ladid, President, IPv6 Forum,
Senior Researcher at University of Luxembourg, Security and Trust (SnT)
Center. Emeritus Trustee, Internet Society (ISOC)

"The IPv6 Curriculum study has abundantly demonstrated that hands-on IPv6
skills and field experience are dearly missing. Achieving parity between
IPv4 and IPv6 deployment, quality expertise is the one pillar to focus on.
This program is very welcome as it takes on this task globally" states
Jacques Babot, IPv6 Team leader, European Commission - DG INFSO, Unit F4 New
infrastructure paradigms and experimental facilities FIRE (Future Internet
Research and Experiments)

“The industry needs highly skilled IPv6 engineers and professionals to
ensure IPv6 is deployed universally. It is very important to be able to
identify experts in IPv6. This IPv6 Forum Education Logo Program will
provide the industry with a trusted, industry neutral program for IPv6
certified professional, trainer and training programs. The IPv6 Forum
Education Logo program is simply in the continuity of the IPv6 ready Logo
program and IPv6 Enabled program and will serve the community well." states
Yanick Pouffary, NAv6TF Technology Director, IPv6 Forum Fellow and IPv6
Forum (Ready & Enabled) Logo Programs Chairperson.

“Highly skilled engineers and operators are the key component to deploy the
professional and business IPv6 system. It must be same quality among all the
countries on the globe, since the Internet is global. The role of this
program shall be the strategic and the same as IPv6 Ready logo Program and
IPv6 Enabled Program, I recognize” states Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Esaki, Executive
Director of Japan IPv6 Council, Chair of IPv6 Ready Logo program, Emeritus
Trustee, ISOC

"As the IPv6 transition continues, keeping the engineering pipeline primed
and ready is of critical importance. Ensuring that these systems will work
and work well together will require IT specialists and network engineers
with in-depth, hands-on experience " states Erica Johnson, IPv6 Ready Logo
Regional Officer, IPv6 Forum Fellow, USA

“We believe IPv6 Training will be quite necessary for the whole Internet
industry and its users. There is huge demand in China, where IPv6 Internet
is now considered as a national strategy.”" states Liu Dong, Chair China
IPv6 Council

"To build up the dependable IPv6 environment, we need highly skilled
engineers as well as high quality products throughout the world. This
programs will improve the IPv6 educational programs and the IPv6 engineers
in the world. I believe this is one of the essential activities, which
supports the stable Internet " states Hiroshi Miyata, IPv6 Ready Logo
Regional Officer, IPv6 Forum Fellow, Japan

" Future Internet will be managed by current students and engineers in
industry. It is highly required to provide IPv6 education to make them
improving their knowledge and skill in IPv6 technology. In this way, this
IPv6 Forum Education Logo Program will contribute in ensuring high quality
and interoperable IPv6 products managed by people that "naturally work,
think and speak IPv6." states Viho César, IPv6 Ready Logo Regional Officer,
IPv6 Forum Fellow, France

"Global certification and recognition is an important requirement in the
education field. By ensuring the course (and thus, the student) is IPv6
Forum Certified, we are ensuring the quality of the future IPv6 Engineers.
And that such Engineers will now have globally recognised certification."
states Professor Dr Sureswaran Ramadass Director of NAV6 Center of
Excellence, Univ Sains Malaysia, Chair IPv6 Education Certification Program

" IPv4 address space is now down to 5% and the world must move to IPv6 now
more than ever. One of the most important element to ensure a successful
deployment of IPv6 is Capacity building. IPv6 Forum's Education Program
provides a holistic training program in addressing the scarcity of
IPv6-skilled engineers worldwide." Selvakumar Manickam of NAV6 Center of
Excellence, Univ Sains Malaysia, IPv6 Education Certification Program

“Since the skills required for a smooth deployment of IPv6 are so critical
for success, I plan to evolve my freely-distributed book (“The Second
Internet”) to track the emerging official IPv6-Forum training curriculum.
This should help both trainers and engineers to master the new concepts and
become certified in IPv6 operation in a timely and cost-effective manner.”
states Lawrence Hughes, IPv6 Ready Logo Regional Officer, Philippines

"This program provides an opportunity for networking professionals to
understand the technical intricacies and acquire hands-on experience in
order to integrate IPv6 in their networks." Salman Asadullah, CCIE No. 2240,
Distinguished Engineer at Cisco Systems, IPv6 Forum Fellow, co-Chair IPv6
Education Certification Program, USA

“The IPv6 Curriculum study, funded by the European Commission, has
identified some critical roadblocks endangering a smooth transition to IPv6.
The main ones are: severe lack of a large amount of skilled workforce, lack
of well documented courses, lack of IPv6-trained professors and trainers,
lack of IPv6-ready engineers coming soon out of universities. Our study will
contribute to make some very relevant recommendations in this regard.”
states Franck le Gall, Coordinator of the IPv6 Curriculum Study at Inno,
France. http://www.training4ipv6.eu/
