The transition between half and full duplex modes between 
the switch and router Ethernet ports suggests a potential 
negotiation issue between both devices (possible failure of 
the port on either device being defective notwithstanding).

Are you working with FastEthernet (100Mbps) or Ethernet 
(10Mbps).

Have you tested other switch types in case you have any, 
e.g., Cisco, HP, e.t.c.?

Have you hard-coded the duplex/speed modes on both the 
switch and router? Some of these values are not 
user-changeable under some IOS revisions, and/or on 
Ethernet (10Mbps) ports.

Verify that the Ethernet copper cable you're using is also 
in good condition.
