Hello, I always have troubles using acpid with acpi on
my dell i5150 HT (bios a37), nvidia graphic card.
Doing things like
# echo 1 > /proc/acpi/sleep
are ok (shutdown for this actual sample )
I am actually on rh9 with kernel 2.6.11.7 patched
linux-2.6.11.7-nvidia_6111-6629_compat2.diff
acpi-20050408-2.6.11.diff.bz2
and software-suspend-2.1.8-for-2.6.11.tar.bz2.

Suspending to disk using hibernate script is ok.

I installed acpid v1.0.3.
The file /proc/acpi/event can been accessed only once.
When acpid runs,
# cat /proc/acpi/event
acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: Device or resource
busy

Stoping acpid, and cat'ing /proc/acpi/event, I get
# cat /proc/acpi/event

....
It stays like this. In another console I try acpid and
get :
# acpid
acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: Device or resource
busy
#

As acpid allows to use another file than /proc/acpi/
event, I tried
# touch /root/toto
# acpid -de toto
[Tue May 31 16:20:04 2005] starting up
[Tue May 31 16:20:04 2005] DBG: parsing conf file /etc/
acpi/events/powerbtn

[Tue May 31 16:20:04 2005] DBG: parsing conf file /etc/
acpi/events/ac_adapter
[Tue May 31 16:20:04 2005] DBG: parsing conf file /etc/
acpi/events/battery
[Tue May 31 16:20:04 2005] 7 rules loaded
[Tue May 31 16:20:34 2005] received event "ac_adpater"
[Tue May 31 16:20:34 2005] DBG: 0 total rules matched
[Tue May 31 16:20:34 2005] completed event "ac_adpater"

And in another window the command
# echo ac_adapter >> toto
gives the 3 last lines 16:20:34 above.

How can I get rid of this problem ?
Is this problem relied to a fake dsdt, fake bios?

I would like to solve the problem but I don't how. Any
suggestion is well welcome.

Thanks, Xavier.
