As far as I know, it's on the general timeline, for about 2.8, but will 
not be in the next release because libgnomeprint and the GTK+ printing 
API are not the same (we'd need a cairo renderer first, which is a major 
internal change).  Libgnomeprint is (despite the name) not a 
gnome-specific library and only requires libgnomeprintui and I think 
hicoloricontheme to run, so you don't need the whole gnome stack.
