OK, Alan, I'll take a shot...

I will assume Drummond is running a Windows machine in order to
guide him to a satisfactory finish, that is, to have the British
Dictionary working for him as his spell checker.

1. Open an instance of AbiWord
2. Click on Help menu and choose Check for Updates
3. navigate to the Download page
4. At the Main Download Page, choose Microft Windows *Get
Dictionaries* button
5. This will open the Dictionaries page list. Double click
*AbiWord_Dictionary_British.exe*
6. It will ask you where to place on your disk (assuming you have
it set to ask for instructions every time). Suggestion: Desktop,
Downloads directory, etc. etc.
7. When download completes close all open files and drop your web
connection.
8. Find this file (name as in #5) in Windows Explorer and place
your mouse cursor on the file and double click it.
9. The install process screens will follow and make the
approipriate choices. The Dictionary will install itself in the
AbiWord 2 directory under Dictionaries.

You will then have access to the British Dictionary in AbiWord
once you have selected it as your DEFAULT Dictionary.

Richard
